Sagesse empowers individuals to break the cycle of violence and abuse by curating environments to heal and develop skills to be in healthy and respectful relationships. Programs are facilitated by peers with no power differential. Contact our office for more information about each program and to register. Finding our Voices and Growth Circle programs are available in Calgary and in many rural communities across Alberta.
Moving on With Mentors
This unique program offers individual support to women by connecting them with a peer mentor. Mentors are available to meet in person, by phone or email to discuss issues that are relevant to the participant’s current situation and experiences.
Finding Our Voices
Finding Our Voices provides support and opportunities to connect with peers while focusing on issues related to self-esteem over the course of 6 weeks. Participants address the impact of self-image, effective communication, shame and compassion and healthy relationships with ourselves and others all while “Finding our Voices”. All women interested in completing the Growth Circle group are first recommended to complete the Finding Our Voices program.
Growth Circle runs for 14 weeks and provides opportunities for women to connect with peers while working through topics related to experiences of domestic violence. Participants address topics such as: understanding domestic violence, effects of abuse, family of origin, shame and compassion, creating healthy support systems, building personal power and integrating new skills moving forward. It is recommended to complete Finding Our Voices prior to registering for Growth Circle.
Direct Service Volunteers
As a volunteer led organization, Sagesse is always looking for women interested in running programs within their communities. All volunteers go through a thorough screening process and are required to attend a two-day training session prior to running programs.
